Important Annexation News ~ Community Action Requested!
The attached
Florida House of Representatives bill 979 proposes
to change state law to allow annexation by interlocal agreement
of a parcel up to 100 acres in size vs. the existing maximum of
10 acres (see line 125). Annexation by interlocal agreement is involuntary.
The affected homeowners are not given the opportunity to vote. While
Juno Isles is larger than 100 acres we are concerned that this bill
erodes our protection and may threaten our ability to control our
own destiny, The Board voted unanimously to oppose this legislation
and, accordingly, we wrote to Rep Rooney asking him to vote against
the bill. We are urging all Juno Isles residents to do the same.
Regardless of how you may feel about being annexed, we would hope
you would agree that any annexation should result only from an affirmative
vote of our community. We are asking all Juno Isles residents to
contact Sen Bogdanoff to express your opposition to this bill by
